New Virtus Protocols as of July 1, 2024

• If you are 18 or over and volunteer in any capacity in the parish or wish to volunteer, you must be VIRTUS compliant. This means that you must complete a new background check every 12 months and take a refresher course if it has been longer than five years since you took the initial Protecting God's Children for Adults course. 
• Please check your VIRTUS account and take whatever measures are indicated. 
• If you have not taken any VIRTUS class, go to Virtusonline and register for an online session.
• For all parish volunteers, annual background checks will be required as of July 1, 2024. The diocesan-approved national search, ScreeningOne will process these.
• If an individual already has a current valid background check, then 30 days prior to the expiration of that check, a new screening must be completed. If an individual does not have a background check, then they must complete ScreeningOne upon first day of your volunteer assignment.  A 30-day grace period will be allowed to complete the screening.
• Volunteers will be prompted to complete background screening via email and your VIRTUS account annually.
• Monthly bulletins will no longer be required reading.    

• All Adult volunteers who completed the VIRTUS Protecting God's Children for Adults prior to 5 years ago are required to complete this refresher training, an online 45-minute module which will be assigned to the individual's VIRTUS account
• Ongoing refresher training will be required once every 5 years.
• Volunteers will be prompted to complete refresher training through VIRTUS.
